Be Free: Do Not Forget

Deut. 4:9 (NASB)
Only be careful for yourself and watch over your soul diligently, so that you do not forget the things which your eyes have seen and they do not depart from your heart all the days of your life; but make them known to your sons and your grandsons.

What is your testimony? How did the Lord call you? Did you hear Him as a child and follow Him every day since? Or were you married with children and a mortgage before you answered His call on your life? How did you know it was Him? And what changed as you grew in your faith and love for Him? Consider the first years when your heart quickened and became alive in His truth and light.

Do not let your testimony slip away. Revisit what you have seen the Lord do in you and around you. The Lord says that you should remember what your eyes have seen. Instead, use this testimony to guard your soul and to watch over yourself diligently.

People are quick to forget the miracles from yesterday as new difficulties and trials creep in. Scripture says, “Sin is lurking at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it” (Gen. 4:7b). Scripture also says, “Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour” (1 Pet. 5:8). Watching over yourself and guarding your soul is not just a good suggestion, it is necessary!

To guard your soul, remember what your eyes have seen! What testimony are you forgetting? Testify to yourself of the good things you know the Lord has done! Count your blessings and your miracles! Then tell your children and grandchildren about them! What works of God do you see in your family? Make God famous in your house for what He has done!
