Friendship

Christ Jesus calls us His friend in John 15:15, “No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to You” (emphasis is mine). Considering who Christ is--Lord and Creator, Redeemer, Messiah, Forgiver of Sins, Redeemer--it humbles you to realize this God calls you friend.

To those of us who believe in His name and choose to receive Christ, we are both children of God and friends of Christ (John 1:12-13).

The question is this. Are you a very good friend? To be a friend, you must accept the friendship. Are you willing to walk thru the bumps and bruises, valleys and mountaintops of life with Christ? Are you a fairweather friend? That is a friend when things are going your way? Are you a backstabber? Walking away from Christ, who is your friend, when things are too easy or too hard? Do you dedicate your time, treasure, and talents to Him? Or are you a gold digger? Taking His friendship, His forgiveness, His provisions for granted?

There are parts of everyone that are difficult--bad habits, weird quirks, imperfect moods--yet with the friendship of Christ, you can work through those behaviors. The way to do that is not by attacking the behaviors but by reaching beyond the behaviors to the thought patterns behind them and then to the root of those thought patterns. To go deep to the roots, you must remain fully connected to Christ. How connected are you to Christ? Where is your commitment level? Where is your friendship with Christ right now?

I invite you now to go in prayer to Christ. Renew your commitment to remain connected to Him. Accept again the offer of friendship by our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. If you accept this offer of friendship, type it out in the comments. If you have a question, type that in the comments as well.
