Be Free: What about you?

As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our wrongdoings from us. Psalm 103:12 (NASB)

Scripture tells us that the Lord has removed all the wrong things we have done as far as the East is from the West. That’s pretty far! But if you are like me, I remind myself constantly of bad things I did, mistakes I made along the way, and every time I stick my foot in my mouth.

The Lord is not like this. In Hebrew 8:12 (NASB), the Lord says, “I will be merciful toward their wrongdoings, and their sins I will no longer remember.” Yet many people just won’t let go of their sins; they play their worst days over and over again in their minds and beat themselves up. If God is for you and not against you, how do you imagine God sees this habit of holding bitterness in your heart against yourself?

The enemy is a master at accusing the Lord’s children. Scripture says that he stands before God and accuses God’s children night and day (Revelation 12:10). When you continuously dwell on things you did wrong, mistakes you made along the way, and thoughtless comments, you stand in agreement with the enemy. The enemy only comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). God came to give you life! The Lord has a plan and a purpose for you filled with good things that will not harm you (Jeremiah 29:11). When you stand in agreement, accusing yourself and reminding yourself of your past, then you are robbed of those good things the Lord has for you.

Job 22:21 (NASB) tells us to be reconciled with God and be at peace. Spend some time in prayer with the Lord. Ask Him, who knows your heart even better than you do (Psalm 139:23-24), where you are accusing yourself and holding bitterness against yourself. Where are you keeping a record of wrong about YOU? And then cast these cares and anxieties on Christ (1 Peter 5:7). He cares for you! Ask Him to help you to walk in His forgiveness and to help YOU to let go of YOUR record of wrong you hold against yourself. 1 Peter 5:8 warns us that the enemy prowls around like a lion seeking whom he may devour.

Do not agree with the enemy in accusing yourself and holding a record of wrong against yourself. Instead, listen to the words of the Apostle Paul in Ephesians 4:23-24! Meditate and pray on these words as you ask the Lord to help you agree with Him! You are forgiven, new, and rid of all the wrongs you did!

…that in reference to your former way…rid yourselves of the old…which is corrupted…be renewed in the spirits of your minds, and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth. Ephesians 4:23-24 (NASB)

….so true! When I agree with the enemy instead of God, I become my own enemy! Thank you, Lord, for removing our sins far away and forgive us for acting as though your payment was insufficient in any way…

Also, while I am seeking to forgive myself in accordance with God’s truth, I might as well seek to forgive anyone else whose sins are under the same blood! Thank you, Steph, for sharing this!
