Bible Text: Hebrews 11:1-7 | Speaker: Parkey Cobern | Series: Standalone Sermons | How do things begin in the kingdom of God? What is necessary to move the hand of God? What force is essential to the creation of a miracle? The Bible tells us that faith is a substance. The Bible tells us that we partner in the kingdom of God through faith. Everything that we will be involved in begins for us by faith.
Faith is the substance of creation for the kingdom of God.
That is the substance that must be present in us. Faith connects the kingdom of God and the realm of man. Faith is the conduit for a miracle.
Faith is action – acting in the supernatural.
Even when faith says, “Stand still and see” it is never passive. Faith confronts, faith resists, faith creates, faith establishes, faith releases – do you see what I’m saying? Faith is action. Faith is a substance. Think of it this way: God is the substance from which the world began. We must have something that connects us to God. Faith brings the substance of God to earth – to your life. God is active so faith is action. Faith is the evidence of the presence of God – It is a substance that proves He is here. The Bible tells us in Hebrews 11 about how this substance operated in the lives of people:
By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks. /// Hebrews 11:4
Abel’s sacrifice was the substance that proved his righteousness!
By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, and was not found because God had taken him, for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. /// Hebrews 11:5
Enoch’s righteousness was the substance that created his rapture!
By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen,, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith. /// Hebrews 11:7
Noah’s ark was the substance for his salvation and the salvation of his family and the known world! Abraham’s journey was the substance from which the nation of Israel appeared! Sarah’s passionate embrace of Abraham was the substance from which Isaac appeared! Isaac’s prophecy over his sons was the substance that directed the destiny of his family! Moses’ esteem of the reproach of Christ over the riches of Egypt was the substance that began his journey! Moses’ keeping of the Passover was the substance that saved Egypt and freed the Israelites! The Israelites circling of Jericho for seven days was the substance that gave them the city! The prostitute, Rahab’s receiving of the spies of Israel was the substance that saved her household and made her a part of the lineage of Jesus!
Faith is action! Show us your faith!
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. /// Hebrews 11:6
Believing that God exists is essential but is not enough substance to produce the supernatural. To create a substance from which God can move, it must be accompanied by the belief that God will move on behalf of those who diligently seek His will and do it! Diligence is observed through action! God is the substance that creates salvation. We’re speaking of Kingdom creation in which you are involved! This is a time of Kingdom creation! Who is going to see it happen in their lives?
Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! /// James 2:17-19 (NKJV)
Then the scripture goes on to document some of the lives we just spoke of in Hebrews as evidence that faith is a substance that is active! What has God been telling you to do?
