Today we’re beginning a series of teachings on spiritual warfare – a critical teaching for the Body of Christ. Let’s begin today with an introduction into the series. Growing up, Pastor Parkey would often be warned by his grandmother when he told her he was thinking of doing something she didn’t like:

“You’ll get there, and then there you’ll be!”

The Body of Christ has made some decisions that have gotten us to where we are. For years, the body of Christ has operated in a country founded on Christian principles. These principles became law and the church neglected its call to spiritual warfare because we were safe – our people in agreement over how we “should” live and in many segments of society we were comfortable. We looked to American culture as the manifestation of the kingdom of God. While this was happening, Satan continued his war against humanity. He used the church’s complacency and sin to bring discontent into American culture. People began to look to things other than the kingdom of God for peace, fulfillment, enlightenment, etc. 

Philosophies that exalted man and his desires took hold in our institutions of higher learning. Prayer was kicked out of our schools. The Bible was kicked out of our schools. Abortion on demand became legal. Now, we are in a crisis. Our land is divided in factions that have such stark differences in philosophy they cannot coexist. What is the church doing? We are finally waking up. The problem? We are still depending upon corrections to come from the State level. We need to work politically. But, we must understand that our problems have a common origin: the demonic. We must fight and win these battles in the spirit before we can expect to see any movement in the natural. We have found out after years of “relative” prosperity that the enemy is at our doorstep and if he is going to be defeated, the people of God are going to have to do so by enforcing the victory of Jesus. No one else including a political party is going to do that for us!

We made a decision to enjoy our prosperity while Satan continued his war. As Pastor Parkey’s grandmother said: “We’ve gotten there by our decisions and there we are!” Kingdom strategy never changed – we did. Now, it is time to return to our calling.

And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force. /// Matthew 11:12 (NKJV) 

The kingdom of God advances through violent intercession – through calling the kingdom into existence where the devil’s kingdom reigns. Satan is not just God’s enemy – he is yours. God won His war against Satan – we must win ours. The good news? We have the authority and the weaponry to win this battle. The problem? We must stop ignoring what is going on. We must stop cowering in the corner – denying reality. We must step up into what we are called to be – warriors in the Kingdom of God.

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. /// Romans 8:37

A conqueror is someone who has fought a battle and won it! Many don’t fight. We cry, we complain, we moan, we give up, we ignore spiritual truth. It is time to answer the call for you, for your family, for the kingdom of God, for those who are deceived, for your reward.

Over the next several weeks, we will examine our authority, our weaponry, and our victory! It’s not too late. If the devil’s power equaled or exceeded God’s – yes. But, it doesn’t even compare! The ground is still there to be taken. Who will answer the call!

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. /// 2 Chronicles 7:14
