How does the Lord speak?

When I hear a word from the Lord, I usually look for how it fits with what I dealt with yesterday or a few weeks before. Sometimes I hear a word in the morning and try to apply it that day. But I have learned that God knows the battle I am moving into--He goes before me and knows what I will need to follow Him (Deut. 31:8). He does more than just sweep up after a few difficult days. He does that--but He does so much more than that.
He is a God who knows the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:1). He knows where you came from and where you are going. When He speaks to you through scripture or brings a verse continuously to your mind, write it down and inscribe it on your heart. The weapons we fight with are sharper than any two-edged sword (Heb. 4:12). Our weapons must be sharp because we fight against rulers,  powers, forces of darkness, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places (Eph. 6:12). Therefore, we must know that scripture is active, alive, and divinely powerful (2 Cor. 10:4-5).
If you want to hear from the Lord, read scripture. Pastor Parkey often repeats that ninety percent of what you need to know from the Lord is written in scripture. Spend some time today allowing the Lord to renew your mind, thoughts, and heart by reading the word of God. Are you willing to give up at least five minutes today to read and pray to hear from Him?

I love to look back and see all the times God gave me a heads up.

I love how Truth comes differently to me than just facts…Truth stirs my heart and flames up and wants to spread to others! I love to share what God has shown/taught me with others. I love that ALL truth is God’s Truth, and I never have to fear it. It truly does set us free!
