Apart from Jesus You Can Do Nothing— Two2Grow, Monday, November 2
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5 NIV
Jesus will allow you to get to a place in life where you throw your hands in the air and say, “I can’t do this!” God is not afraid of leading you into situations where you reach the end of yourself.
I have been there several times. It can be a dark and hopeless place if you try to get out of it in your own strength. But when you let your own weakness and inadequacy make you realize that apart from Jesus you can do nothing, that’s the moment of change and a new beginning. It is when we come to Him, knowing that all of life comes from Him and that the only way forward is to daily live in and through Him.
You might ask, how does all that work? We don’t have to understand it. We just have to desire and ask God to bring us into a deeper union with Jesus. Ask God, and He will give you the desires of your heart.
In union with Jesus, His life becomes your life, His love my love, and His abilities my abilities. Then we will be full of the Spirit of Jesus and bear fruit for God's kingdom.
Take a moment to express your own desire to Jesus.
