Trusting God’s Goodness—Two2Grow, Friday, October 30

“He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets prisoners free, the Lord gives sight to the blind, the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down, the Lord loves the righteous. The Lord watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.” Psalm 146:7–9 NIV

Oh, isn’t the Lord wonderful? How can we but love Him! We read in this text how He doesn’t side with the oppressors. He is not impressed by the riches of the wealthy. He doesn’t forget those who are locked up in prison. He cares about our broken bodies and is not afraid of our tormented souls. He notices those who are overlooked and those who do not belong. He cares for those who live on the fringes, who lack support or influence. He sees, He cares, and He has the power, the ability, and the willingness to do something about it. The cross is proof that there is no cost He is not willing to pay to heal us, to reach us, and to restore us. Oh, what a wonderful Savior!

But what about when life hits us, as it sometimes does? When we are sick and don’t experience His healing power? When we are in prison and God doesn’t set us free?

Sometimes we find ourselves in situations where we see few traces of God's power at work in our current circumstances. Yet we are blessed when we continue to trust in Jesus and His goodness, even when we don't see many traces of His power at work.

We know that God can. We might struggle with why He doesn’t. But we choose to trust.
On the cross, we see the extent of God’s love for us. One day, we will see it fully in our lives as well. Until then, we must daily choose to trust Him. Trust that He is good and that He will see us through.

Jesus, you are amazing. I love you, and help me trust you today. Amen.
