Speak Life — Two2Grow, Saturday, October 31

“The Lord God has given Me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary. He awakens Me morning by morning; He awakens My ear to hear as the learned.” Isaiah 50:4 NKJV

When I was young, a Bible teacher told me that this was a good Scripture to pray over yourself when you wake up. I began doing that and started to see how I got words for people. When I shared what the Lord put on my heart, it brought life to people. At other times, I didn’t even know that what I said was exactly what they needed.

One word at the right time has the power to bring hope in hopelessness, strength in the battle, and peace in anxiety. I’m sure we have all been in a desperate place when God sent someone across our path who spoke a word that blessed us. We thank God for those times. The Holy Spirit wants to use each one of us to carry a word in season to the people around us.

It isn’t complicated. Your heart can be drawn to a Scripture, and when you read it, you think of a person. You either call, text, or email them. Or you see a person and get a strong impression to say something. Recently, I was at Panera Bread, and I saw a man in his 30s eating. The Lord gave me a word for him that he didn’t need to worry about his future. I went up to him and told him who I was and that I felt the Lord had a word for him. It turned out to be exactly what he needed.

Let’s be open to carrying a word in season to those around us.

Holy Spirit, I am ready to be used by You today. Lead me to someone who is weary and give me a word for them. Amen.
