Pray Scripture Over Your Loved Ones—Two2Grow, Saturday, October 23

“ask the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, to give you the Spirit, who will make you wise and reveal God to you, so that you will know him.” Ephesians 1:17 Good News Bible

Do you find prayer hard? Prayer makes a difference, but many times we don’t really know how to pray for ourselves or our loved ones, friends, and neighbors. In those times, it helps to turn to Scripture and pray out of it.

Today’s verse gives us an essential prayer point. It directs us to pray for our loved ones to receive the Holy Spirit, whose most important work is to draw them into a personal encounter with God and a deeper knowledge of Him.

So, what I encourage you to do is replace the “you” in today’s verse with the name of the person you are praying for. It would be like this:

“Father…give _____ the Spirit, who will make _____ wise and reveal God to _____, so that _____ will know You.”

When you pray this, trust that God is at work in them, responding to your requests, and that you will see a difference in their lives.

When I was a teenager, I became hungry for more of God. Someone recommended that I pray this prayer over myself, and I started doing so. I have done that off and on ever since, and I have seen how God has heard me and brought me closer to Him.
