Surely God Is My Salvation —Two2Grow, Friday, October 22

“Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.” Isaiah 12:2 NIV
To whom or what do you look for help in times of trouble? Where is the first place your heart goes when you get a bill that is too large for your budget? When you get a bad report from your doctor? When your child’s teacher calls from school and reports a problem? Or whatever else you might face.
I love today’s verse because it shows us the attitude of faith that we are all invited to share.
The confidence in God comes out clearly in the opening word: “Surely.”
But notice also the personal relationship: “God is my salvation.” God isn’t just the Savior and helper of others—he is “my strength and my defense.”
When we let God be our Savior, we can also decide to look to him in the midst of the hardest situations and say, “I will trust and not be afraid.”
We refuse to let fear bully us around or determine the course of our actions.
Father, You are my Father. I choose to trust You today, and I know that You will help me. Amen.
