The Faithful God—Two2Grow, Friday, September 4
“If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is.” 2 Timothy 2:13 NLT

Let’s imagine for a minute that God allowed some of the saints of the Bible to come back to life for just a short while and we could talk to them. If we lined up Moses, Miriam, Abraham and Sarah, Joshua, Ruth, Hannah, Samuel, David, Jeremiah, Mary, John, Paul, and Timothy and asked them to describe their experiences of God and to summarize how they have come to know God with just one word, what do you think they all would say?

I am convinced they would say, “faithful.”

Notice how today’s Scripture speaks of faithfulness being absolutely essential to who God is.

Look at this summary interpretation of Webster’s Dictionary:

Faithful — true to the facts, to a standard, or to an original; implying unswerving adherence to a person, thing, oath, or promise; loyal, constant, staunch, steadfast, and resolute —firm and unwavering in allegiance, love, conviction, or purpose, and resistant to influences that would weaken it.

So when we say that God is faithful, it means (and I encourage you to read these aloud and thank Him for each truth):

  • God is steadfast in His love for me.
  • God has unswerving adherence to me.
  • God is loyal to me.
  • God is constant toward me.
  • God is staunch in His commitment to me.
  • God is resolute in His purpose for me.
  • God remains firm and unwavering in His allegiance to me.
  • God is true to His Word and faithful to His promises to me.
  • God resists every influence that would weaken His commitment to me.

Wow! Just wow!

Let these be building blocks in how you think and feel about God.

Father, thank You for being who You are and that You are faithful. Open my eyes today to see more of Your faithfulness so that I can mirror it to the world. Amen.
