Mind-blowing Generosity — Two2Grow, July 2
“He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” Romans 8:32 NIV

The first paycheck I ever received was for packing orders in a shoe warehouse during evenings and weekends while I was in high school. It was hard work. I remember when my first paycheck came in the mail, I couldn't believe how small the amount was. After taxes were taken out (and Sweden has very high taxes!), I felt the work wasn't worth it.

God is altogether different from a boss who underpays. God takes pleasure in giving. The Father gave up His Son for us—the most precious gift He could ever give. As if that weren't enough, with Jesus, the Father graciously gives us all things! God wants to give us everything: "No good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless" (Ps. 84:11).

Why this mind-blowing generosity? The answer is found in the verse. It all comes down to grace.

Grace is a word we often hear in church, but we don't always understand what it means. A simple way to remember it is the acronym: God's Riches At Christ's Expense.

Think about that. Through the gift of Jesus, you have access to every gift. Jesus paid the price for our salvation and eternal life. Even more than that, in Christ we are brought into the fullness of God's life and blessings. And it is all a gift. There are no strings attached, no hidden fine print that you'll discover later, and what you receive will always be far more than you ever expected—all of God's riches. In other words, God overpays even when we haven’t worked at all.

Father, thank you for your love and generosity and for giving me Jesus. Give me a deeper revelation of your grace today.
